The University of Limpopo is recruiting for a permanent position as part of the Department of Higher Education and Training’s New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP). This program aims to support academic development, and therefore, applicants must be South Africans aged 40 years or younger. The successful candidate will enter into a contract committing them to undertake a maximum of six (6) years of supported academic development activities. Requirements:

  • Master of Laws degree (LLM) with an average of 70%.
  • South African citizenship.

  • At least one year of teaching experience in the legal field at a tertiary institution.

  • Interest and focus in commercial law subjects.
  • Evidence of research output preferred.

  • Attend and participate in training workshops.
  • Present papers at conferences.
  • Publish articles in accredited peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to books and conference proceedings.
  • Participate in community engagement activities and departmental branding.
  • Perform designated administrative and managerial duties.
  • Register for a doctoral qualification in law.

Lecturer (nGAP): Nursing

Nursing Science Eligibility:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a Midwifery unit in an institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ teaching/clinical mentoring experience at a clinical facility or institution of higher education/nursing College preferred.

Duties:

  • Engage in own research study, publish, and present results at national and international conferences.
  • Capacity building as an academic for six (6) years, including online teaching, assessment, venue-based teaching, and curriculum development for the Bachelor of Nursing (BNURS) R.174 programme.
  • Designing study materials and learner guides for nursing students.
  • Clinical accompaniment and mentoring of nursing students at accredited clinical facilities for experiential and work-integrated learning.
  • Perform administrative duties related to clinical teaching, learning, and community engagement as delegated by the Head of Department.
  • Record-keeping as required by the South African Nursing Council.

The nGAP position in Haematology is a DHET funded programme aimed at empowering candidates with teaching, learning, and research skills in the field of Haematology. The programme runs for 6 years, during which the candidate must register for and complete a PhD programme in the first four years. The remaining two years focus on empowering the candidate with teaching, learning skills, and multidisciplinary research skills, with the goal of potential absorption into the university workforce upon completion.

Minimum Requirements and Competency Profile:

  • M.Sc. in Haematology with a pass mark of 70%.

  • Some experience in formal and informal teaching, formal research, and computer literacy.
